Fun for Everyone
We offer educational presentations for a variety of age and interest groups. From elementary school classes, garden enthusiasts, women’s groups, our presentations are adapted to capture the interest of each group.
Hands-On Learning
Flying Flowers visits are approximately one hour long and include multiple visual aids and props, including live butterflies, eggs, caterpillars, and chrysalis. There are many interesting facts about butterflies and caterpillars that everyone will love and plenty of time for questions. After the program visitors will stroll through the butterflies, photograph or just sit and watch them up close. Learn how to attract these amazing insects to your yard.
If you would us to come to "your" school and have your students participate in this activity let us know. We can provide the larvae (a monarch caterpillar) and the necessary food, a common milkweed, which the students can raise and then watch the life cycle unfold in their classroom. A perfect illustration of metamorphosis right in front of them. When the adults hatch, they will tag it and release it and your class will be listed on Monarch Watch as a release site and the students can monitor the site and watch for the Monarchs progress.
